Bandarban Hill District

Lush green hillside covered in fog and clouds in Bandarban, Bangladesh
Fog covered hillside, Bandarban, Bangladesh

Bandarban is one of the places that feels peaceful the moment you get close. The hills start showing far away, and the road keeps turning through the green trees. Sometimes the fog comes down so low that you can't see what's ahead. The air feels cool and smells a little like wet soil and wood smoke. People sit near small tea stalls, and you can hear slow talking and the sound of spoons hitting cups. The Sangu River moves quietly beside the road. I saw children playing beside it, throwing stones and laughing. The hills around looked soft in the morning light. Everything there feels slow and quiet, and you start to forget the noise of the city. For more about the area, The Daily Star has an article about how travelers describe it.

What I liked most was how simple life looked there. The people live calmly and work early in the morning. Some sell fruits by the road, others walk with baskets on their backs. The green color of the hills changes with the sunlight, and you can feel the wind moving from one side to another. I remember sitting under a tree for a while, watching clouds touch the top of the hills. It was quiet, but you could still hear birds and small sounds from far away. The view from Nilgiri Hill was something I couldn't forget. The place has a kind of peace that stays in your mind.
